GCHRA Welcomes SHRM’s Strategic Partnership to Advance HR Development Across Africa
A new era of collaboration for Africa’s HR community
Accra, Ghana | October 22, 2025
The Global Conference on Human Resources Africa (GCHRA) welcomes the announcement of a new strategic membership partnership between SHRM and leading HR associations across Africa. This partnership marks a major step forward in strengthening professional collaboration, building capability, and advancing the role of HR in shaping the continent’s future of work.
Over the past two years, SHRM has been an active partner of GCHRA, contributing to the conference’s mission of connecting Africa’s HR professionals, business leaders, and innovators with global perspectives and practical insights. Together, SHRM and GCHRA have fostered meaningful dialogue on the trends redefining work, workforce, and workplace transformation across Africa.
“This partnership reflects the growing importance of Africa’s HR community in shaping the global conversation on work,” said David Ssegawa, Founder and Executive Director of GCHRA. “At GCHRA, we have always believed in collaboration as the foundation for growth. Through initiatives like this, HR professionals across the continent gain access to the kind of global knowledge, certification, and networks that can accelerate their impact locally.”
The partnership, formalized through Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with national HR associations in Ghana, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe, creates a framework for shared learning and professional development. By extending affordable access to SHRM’s global resources, the initiative will help HR practitioners across Africa build stronger, more connected, and future-ready workforces.
“Africa is rapidly emerging as the next global economic frontier, powered by its young and dynamic workforce. This partnership enables HR professionals across the continent to access the knowledge and tools they need to support businesses and workers in a changing world of work,” said Emily M. Dickens, Chief of Staff and Head of Government Affairs at SHRM.
Partnership Goals
- Strengthen collaboration among HR professionals across Africa
- Advance professional development and global connectivity
- Support HR innovation and leadership across emerging industries
Through the GCHRA platform and its ongoing collaboration with SHRM, African HR professionals will gain access to world-class resources and opportunities to engage with peers globally. The shared vision is clear: to elevate HR practice, empower professionals, and shape the future of work across Africa.
